1911 Census:
Arthur Bell, aged 17, was employed as a picture framer's apprentice. He resided at 37, Talbot Street, Derby, and he was the son of George Bell, a bricklayer's labourer, and Annie Potter Bell.

Service record:
Arthur Bell enlisted into the Special Reserve of the Notts and Derby Regiment on the 5th September 1910, stating his age to be 18 years and 3 months old. He was employed as a general labourer. He was just over 5 feet 6 inches in height, had brown eyes and dark brown hair, and belonged to the Church of England.
He arrived in France on the 11th November 1914, was treated in hospital from the14th to the 21st August 1915 for scabies, again to hospital from the 3rd until the 19th December 1915 for an injury to his thumb, before being killed in action on the 16th September 1916.
